Transparent estimate • Ethical counselling • Delhi Eye Care

Understand the cataract plan before you compare the price.

A meaningful estimate explains the surgery, IOL, inclusions and possible exclusions. Delhi Eye Care provides a case-specific estimate after examining the eye.

What affects cataract surgery cost?

The number reflects more than the lens label.

IOL design

Monofocal, toric, EDOF and multifocal/trifocal lenses differ in purpose, optics and cost.

Eye complexity

Dense cataract, weak lens support, small pupil or coexisting disease can require added planning, devices or monitoring.

Surgical requirements

Technique, anaesthesia needs and clinically necessary consumables vary between patients.

Preoperative tests

Biometry is fundamental; topography, OCT or other tests are used when they answer a relevant question.

Care included

Clarify whether medicines, investigations and postoperative visits are included and for how long.

Insurance terms

Sub-limits, co-payment, deductibles and non-payable items affect the patient’s contribution.

DEC does not present every patient with the highest-priced lens. Lens counselling begins with eye suitability, visual needs and realistic trade-offs.

Six questions to ask about any estimate

Which exact IOL category and model is proposed?
Why is it suitable for my eye and lifestyle?
Which investigations and consumables are included?
Are surgeon, OT and anaesthesia charges included?
How many routine follow-ups are included?
What circumstances could change the estimate?
Be cautious with an online “starting price.” It may not describe the IOL, clinical complexity, exclusions or postoperative care that apply to you.

Insurance and government panels

Coverage belongs to the policy—not merely to the procedure name.

Cataract surgery may be covered when medically indicated, but eligibility and payable amounts depend on the insurer, TPA, policy wording and applicable package or implant limits.

Policy status and waiting period
Cataract or implant sub-limit
Co-payment or deductible
Network-hospital eligibility
Room or package restrictions
Consumables and non-payable items

Important distinction

Cashless does not always mean zero payment. It means the approved part is settled directly according to policy terms. Deductibles, co-payments, upgrades and non-payable items may remain payable by the patient.

The cashless pathway

Plan time for approval.

01

Share documents

Provide your e-card or policy details, photo ID and the documents requested by DEC.

02

Pre-authorisation

DEC submits clinical and cost information to the insurer or TPA for review.

03

Decision

The insurer may approve, query, partly approve or decline according to policy terms.

04

Consent

You review the approved amount, exclusions and any personal contribution before surgery.

05

Final billing

Discharge documents and the final bill are processed according to the approved pathway.

06

Keep records

Retain discharge, implant, prescription and billing documents for future reference.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Can you tell me the exact cataract surgery cost by phone?

The team can explain categories, but a reliable case-specific estimate requires examination, measurements and confirmation of the IOL and surgical plan.

Is a premium lens always better?

No. A more expensive design may offer a broader range of focus, but it can also have trade-offs and may be unsuitable in some eyes.

Does cashless approval cover the entire bill?

Not necessarily. Approval is limited by policy terms and may exclude co-payment, deductibles, upgrades, consumables or other non-payable items.

Who decides cashless approval?

The insurer or TPA makes the approval decision. DEC supplies the necessary clinical and cost documentation and helps coordinate queries.

What if my preferred lens exceeds the policy limit?

Ask for a written explanation of the approved amount and the additional personal contribution before confirming the lens.

Can I claim reimbursement if cashless is unavailable?

Possibly, subject to your policy. Confirm required documents and timelines with the insurer before surgery whenever practical.
